Pioneer Day/May Fest
A celebration of pioneer arts and crafts takes place on the second Saturday in May each year during Pioneer Days in French Camp. Craftsmen demonstrate the art of basket making, leatherworking, woodcarving, blacksmithing, quilting, and more. Reenactors portray frontier settlers, Civil War era soldiers, and Tombigbee pioneers. Attendees will enjoy a variety of food, games, and live music with traditional acoustic instruments. Call (662) 547-9464 for more information.
June
JuneFest
Each June, Ackerman hosts the family-oriented JuneFest featuring arts and crafts, a street concert, charity bingo, kids activities, classic automobiles, games, street concerts, homemade ice cream contest, local entertainment, food vendors, and a pet show. July
Fireworks Over The Water
Held at Choctaw Lake, the event includes live music, a variety of food vendors, picnicking, and an impressive fireworks display.
August
Dawg Days of Summer Festival
Held around the Ackerman Courthouse, this two-day festival features arts and crafts, live music, games, a pet show, and more.
October
Harvest Festival
The annual Harvest Festival in French Camp is held on the second Saturday in October and began on September 6, 1953. It is known for its quilt auction featuring beautiful hand-stitched quilts made by Mississippi quilters. It also features opportunities to bid on needlework, wood crafts and ceramics, as well as homemade preserves, jams, and jellies. An old fashioned family-style dinner-on-the-ground begins at noon. Attendees can bring their favorite picnic dish and share with others, although concessions will also be available. Annual Christmas Parade
The official kickoff of the holiday season begins with the Annual Christmas Parade on Main Street in Ackerman. Christmas floats, marching bands, antique cars, and Santa Claus means fun for the whole family. Call (662) 285-6251 or (662) 285-3778.
