Colonel Weir Bed and Breakfast

Completed in 1878, this bed and breakfast is the oldest building in Weir, MS.  With three bedrooms and two baths, this historic home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

French Camp Academy

Location: Highway 413, off the Natchez Trace at mile marker 181

The French Camp Academy was established in 1885 by Scotch-Irish Christians as a Christian boarding school. Tour guides available to show visitors the beautiful 1,000-acre campus.

French Camp Natchez Trace Historic District

This quaint log cabin village is in the Natchez Trace Historic District of French Camp Academy. Visitors can tour the 19th century style farm house to see how a Revolutionary War soldier lived, watch quilt-making demonstrations, or every Saturday in October, watch sorghum being made. This district includes the Council House Cafe, the Drane Home, the Huffman Log Cabin, an old restored post office, and more.

Son of a Revolutionary War soldier, James Drane moved to Choctaw County in 1837 at age 28. Colonel Drane served as state representative, senator, and president of the Mississippi State Senate from 1851 to 1865. His home was built in 1846 and is furnished with period pieces. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

French Camp Bed and Breakfast

The rustic inn is constructed from two log cabins, each more than 100 years old. It has five bedrooms, each with a private bath.

This historic dog-trot cabin serves as a Visitors’ Center, gift shop, and showplace for arts and crafts.  George Marquess built the first room of the cabin in 1840. A second room and breezeway was completed in 1852.  The cabin was originally located two miles south of French Camp, but was relocated to its current location in 1975.
